Registered Nurses handle cases in which medical stability has not yet occurred. Focus is on assisting claimant in achieving medical stability, controlling medical costs and obtaining a release to return to work. Employment emphasis involves returning claimant to work with former employer in usual, modified or alternate position. Claimants are assisted in reaching optimal medical recovery in preparation for vocational rehabilitation when return to work with former employer is not possible.


Well experienced Rehabilitation Counselors are responsible for completing comprehensive Vocational Assessments, performing Vocational Testing, determining feasibility of Rehabilitation, identifying Transferable Skills and Job Goals, developing and implementing Vocational Rehabilitation Plans consistent with the State of Michigan Guidelines. Also, they are responsible for provision of Job Seeking Skills, Job Placement and follow-up. Vocational Testing can be provided to employees for return to work alternatives at original and alternate employers. Vocational Rehabilitation Specialists coordinate all activity with necessary medical and treatment professional. Our rehabilitation counselors are also well versed in medical issues allowing them to do medical case management as well. This reduces the duplication of services and time involved in coordinating medical with vocational services and provides continuity. Several of our rehabilitation counselors are also Certified Case Managers. 


Our Job Seeking Skills Instructors train individuals to prepare for a job search, focusing on positive presentation. Emphasis is on identifying strengths and skills, completing job applications, resumes and cover letters and interviewing techniques.

Job Developers assist Vocational Counselors in identifying appropriate positions, developing and maintaining liaisons with employers and assisting with the Structured Job Search process. They also assist in conducting Labor Market Surveys.
